At Metacritic, which assigns a weighted mean rating out of 0-100 to reviews from mainstream critics, the film received an average score of 46 based on 22 reviews. By contrast, Roger Ebert awarded three stars out of four and praised it as being better than its predecessor in certain respects. The original film's star, Julie Andrews, did not consider this sequel to be a remake of the original. She said, "It has nothing in common with the original... It's kind of in its own category." "Julie 2" was released on DVD and Blu-ray by Warner Bros. Home Entertainment on June 20, 2011 in its original language (English), subtitled French or dubbed Italian.
